The downstairs games room and the outside playroom both provide great places for children and adults with a pool table, table football, table tennis, board games, toys and outdoor games. Bournemouth town centre is 1½ miles away. From the well kept town gardens, trips on the Bournemouth Eye can be taken, which rises high above the town to give the most amazing panoramic views over the whole area. At the foot of the pier is the fascinating Oceanarium where the whole family can discover life beneath the waves.
Compton Acres in Bournemouth and the delightful Exbury Gardens (18 miles) are both worth a visit, as is Beaulieu, with its world renowned National Motor Museum, Palace House and Beaulieu Abbey (20 miles). Other places of interest to visit include Farmer Palmers, Alice in Wonderland Adventure Wonderland, Christchurch priory town, Hengistbury Head, Mudeford Key, Poole Harbour, Highcliffe Castle and the National Trust’s Brownsea Island. Try and make the trip to Brownsea Island, a fabulous nature reserve here. Inland on your holiday in Dorset you can enjoy the rolling hills that are so characteristic of the county and explore what has become known as “Thomas Hardy Country”.
The county town of Dorchester, with its High Street lined with 17th and 18th Century houses, is little changed from Hardy’s day, while the pretty town of Shaftesbury has been used as a location in countless films set in Olde England.
